    That looked like a lot of fun! I don’t have any track experience, but it looked beginner friendly, in that it’s flat and seemed to have decent run-off areas all around. However, I suspect those long corners would but difficult to master when trying to button down a good lap time! I expected to see more people. but not being crowded is probably nice, too! I recognize the N2 name, I usually hear it associated with WERA (endurance racing, I think?), although I’ve heard it around Moto America, too. You’ve probably said it before, but have you had any sort of formal training or guidance for track riding, or did you just go and begin to figure it out?

    • @TheGorillaBiker
      @TheGorillaBiker 9 годин тому

      Most tracks are surprisingly beginner friendly, that's the beauty of the groups :) Novice tends to be more crowded but there are strict passing rules and everyone is moving at a pretty calm pace so very good to learn. It's actually challenging in a way as it's a lot of higher speed sustained corners with tightening radiuses etc. But a very pleasant track. I miss elevation changes 😂 We think it was that quiet due to the heat warnings, a lot of people might not have shown up due to that. It was a very quiet group, good in a way but not as fun as having some people to joust with :P Correct! They do endurance stuff also :) I was lucky that most of Ireland is a basically small back road race tracks and I rode bikes there when I was younger....so more of an idiot than I am now. When I finally got to the track it felt fairly natural(with a lot of bad habits). Thankfully Mr Chris Gray took me under his wing and taught me how to be less shite. But nothing formal ever no. Just practice :)

    Good video. I don't understand not having braking boards . . . Assuming the red dots are apex markers that track has a lot of very late apexes which are never easy. They always need a lot of learning and setting up way earlier than normal. Not many people, which is good in that you can relax more and focus, and bad because there are less chances to follow and learn that way. So happy that you enjoyed it. 👍

    • @TheGorillaBiker
      @TheGorillaBiker 20 годин тому

      Thanks! Honestly you don't have to brake brake much on this track except for turn 1 which has markers. They are indeed, some very tricky ones to get right, I made a mess of too many of them I know I can hit though, nice to have a target too. Very quiet on account of the heat I think, it was nice in a way I could be very consistent, but like that it was harder to push to try match and catch someone.

Videos for fitting all of the above on the channel :) It was extremely fun. Can't wait for the next one.

    Would it be possible for them to create a patch cord that had a usb end on it so that the unit could be removed and patch corded to a usb port on a computer to upload the files instead of removing the SD card, I ask that because it looked like the unit itself looked to be quick connected to power and cameras, Is this the case? Possibly a usb patch cord could be a good remedy for having to remove the card.

    The long bolt you said stripped on the way out was made that way for ease of assembly. As for the new bolt replacement yes it is only just long enough but 5mm longer would be better.

    • @TheGorillaBiker

      I did think it was very odd that it had stripped and I hadn't felt anything, either way stripped intentionally or not for assembly it wasn't usable. That's what I said? It barely is long enough. That said it has held up to road use and a track day now.

Same as yourself, I'd like to understand the real reasons for not keeping EVs (bike or car). I think I understand limitations, etc, but would like to hear it from the horses mouth, so to speak. OC - my area (Lincolnshire UK) has a great combination of countryside and coast. Agricultural (which hopefully means it will remain so), nature reserves, etc, and low population make it a grand place to live. Cheers, Andy.

    I still can't get in step with the world today. Time was I would go down to Gerry's if I wanted something bike related. If he didn't have what I wanted he would get it within a week, often offering choices. Now even here where there are so many bike related shops I find myself ordering online. The whole electric thing was and is confused. If they really want us to use electric vehicles they need to commit to the infrastructure. My impression is that manufacturers have talked to governments and said that to be honest it's a dead end and so governments pay lip service till something like hydrogen is up and running properly. It would be a better fit with the current fuel distribution and vehicle maintenance infrastructure. A tiny issue is with the labelling. I think electric vehicles, two, three and four wheeled have a place, but not cars, or motorbikes as such. Post WW2 there were a lot of electric vehicles on the roads of the UK. Milk floats, Trolley buses/trams, and a lot of electric delivery vehicles. The latter were used in the urban setting. We threw all that away ? The Wuling Air, which looks like the Lego Movie car is a very common sight on the streets of Surabaya. This Chinese electric vehicle looks perfect for the urban environment and lifestyle. Another thought provoker on many levels. Thank you. 👍

      Sorry not sure how I missed this one! I miss good brick and mortar stores tbh, even the bike shops that are around now rarely have much gear in stock and even less bikes, which really makes me sad as I love just wandering through bike shops dreaming. I actually really dislike ordering online, I recently had to return a jacket to Revzilla that didn't fit and it was such an ordeal I probably won't bother again. That's very possible, I'd love to have a lot more transparency on the push for electric. For an A to B commuter in a city, fine, but otherwise they really don't make a lick of sense, ESPECIALLY if you're not wealthy as they cost a lot. Hydrogen is a mega challenging one. I don't see it being mass adopted any time soon either. I think the ones that make sense aren't affordable. I follow a few people who have the Rivian R1T and that looks like something I would actually be able to use for commuting and towing a bike etc. But it costs $75,000!!!!!!! I mean that is just so far beyond anything I would ever consider spending on a car it may as well not exist. That for me is the issue, the ones people can afford are largely pointless as cars. The motorcycles.....too expensive I'd buy a used Honda Cb or something. People shouldn't be regulated in to buying things that literally don't make any financial sense to them. Thanks for the comment :)

Imagine what Hollywood cinematographers from the 60s and 70s would have thought if they knew that in 50 short years, anyone with a few hundred bucks and a couple hours would be able to make footage that equaled what took them weeks and tens, if not hundreds of thousands of dollars to produce! John Frankenheimer probably would have murdered someone to get his hands on a GoPro while he was making "Grand Prix" back in the 60s! 😄 As to editing for UA-cam, I've never quite understood the obsession with it. Looking too slick and overproduced is often a turn off. Too many motorcycle channels I see try to look like Top Gear, or something, when if they just talked about their bikes, experience, and opinions, it would be far more interesting and informative. Have a great weekend!

Hahaha oh absolutely, I'd say they're looking at us from wherever they ended up cursing us :D Like it is so so easy to get very good quality video, and I'm using a very well used gopro hero 8 too! The newer ones are so so much crisper. Yeah I agree, a lot of the overdone videos that have all the fancy clips and such, I personally have never understood them as I'm watching for a vlog, or information, it's not in a cinema etc. But each to their own at the same time!! Thank you!! You too, and an even bigger thank you for joining the Patreon, still think everyone who does is completely mad :D

    The authenticity of your content is what makes it. Follow your heart on what your feel is best for you and your Chanel. I agree with most of your reasons for not turning your hobbies into a job. I too love all aspects of motorcycling including working on them ( I have the same bike and model year as yours (Z900RS - I love it!!) and have picked up ideas and pointers - Thanks for that!). My 2nd machine is a 2010 Ducati Streetfighter 1098S. It is one of the coolest and most visceral machines...but as you can imagine I always get the question....How do you handle the valve clearances and cost?.....Easy...I do it myself! I actually enjoy doing such work and I have had friends and fellow riders suggest I do such work on the side as I could make a few extra bucks.....as much as I enjoy getting into the beauty and simplicity of the demo valves and Testastretta engine (yeah, I'm that kind of Geek...lol), I don't want to turn something I enjoy into a job.... I work on my bikes because I enjoy the process and meditative like zone it puts me in..... To work on someone else's bike and be on a schedule to turn it around in a timely manner would diminish those qualities for me. When I work on my bikes, it is on my schedule and I take my time and enjoy and learn.....That time is for me.... and the reward is a well maintained machine that puts a huge smile on my face and is endless fun....So I think it is cool what you are doing.....It may sound cliche, but I think it is true - You, do You...And have fun Dude! 🍻😎😁

Glad to be of some use :D I love the Z, absolutely one of my favourite modern bikes. Good at everything! Exactly, if I don't know how to do it I'd rather spend the time learning how to do it than just be able to afford to keep the bike!! Good ramblings again! Camera position looks good for track 👍 I use UA-cam for... how to, what's it like, why have, do I really need, could I do (eg for bikes: track, trip, maintenance). Then I apply an "idiot filter" and, hopefully, end up with a sensible channel to watch. As a bonus, it may be entertaining too!!! OC - I suppose signs are cheaper than fences?? As you've previously mentioned, not many fences about in the US... Keep em coming, cheers, Andy.

    Please do not take the two UA-camrs you mentioned as role models I cannot stand either of them 🤣. The No Trespassing thing is odd wherever it is. If you don't want people to enter build a fence that prevents access. Strange these signs are a thing in the USA where so few people have fences or walls around their gardens. I come here because of the random nature of the videos, and not for the professionalism. If I want to watch a film I go the cinema. Another interesting ramble. Thank you. 👍

    the days of making money on youtube are done, theres a reason why the large ones shill products(cough chaseontwowheels, TMF cough) or have multiple revenue streams like making tshirts etc etc. The problem is chasing numbers and following trends, that takes the fun out of it, it's like playing an unfun game like elden ring. The stuff that people enjoy is authenticity and you provide that in abundance.
